Artificial reefs are used around the world and can vary from cement balls with holes in them to artificial structures. From a spear fishermen s stand point i can see the advantages with added life and the effect of added fish. What is awesome about the balls is coral grows 10x faster on them which leads to added safety for smaller kelp dwelling animals. But from an animal activist stand point and wildlife conservation standpoint i can see how they would view them as unnecessary unpractical and also unethical because it makes peoples job shooting fish easier. I Can appreciate both stand points but have seen the positive effects on what they can do from turning a not so hot spot to every ones secret spot. Life flourishes and i do not see the fish or marine animals effected in a negative manner.
